Our Community
Velankanni Parish, located in JP Nagar, Mysuru, is a newly established parish consisting of 350 families. Previously, the Catholic community in this area attended St. Theresa's Church in Mysore South. To better serve the community and ease overcrowding, the Mysore South parish was divided, and a new substation was formed in JP Nagar. This has made it more convenient for local parishioners to participate in religious services. Currently, the parish gathers for Holy Mass, catechism classes, Sunday prayers, and other religious activities at the St. Bridget’s Convent campus in JP Nagar. Although the convent offers a spacious environment, the chapel can accommodate only about 100 people. Despite space constraints, all religious practices are conducted with great faith and reverence, adhering to the Roman Catholic tradition under the spiritual guidance of the Diocese of Mysore. The parishioners, a diverse community of about 1,400 members from all economic backgrounds, are deeply committed to their faith. They actively participate in both religious and social activities, contributing to a vibrant and faithful parish life.
